This movie was about a viking boy going against the norm and instead of killing and fighting the dragons he befriends and learns to work with them. How to train your dragon was a great kids movie with a great moral lesson.

The movie is based from the novel by . it takes place on the island Berk that is being raided by dragons. Hiccup (played by Jay Baruchel )the viking chief, Stoick the Vast's, (Played by Gerard Butler)son works as an apprentince for the blacksmith and would rather invent things then fight dragons. One day the dragons attack the viollage and Hiccup shoots a rare dragon called night fury with an invention he created when he tells the people of the village no one believes him. hiccup decides to journey into the forest to find proof of the dragon he knows he got. when he finds the dragon he discovers it was injured from a crash landing and had lost part of his tail. Hicccup not being like the other Vikings find himself unable to kill the dragon and befriends it and eventually creates artificaial tail wing for the dragon he has named Toothless.
Thoothless learns to fly but only with the aid of his new friend Hiccup. Together they fly through the skies and soon Toothless takes Hiccup to the dragon nest that the warriors of the village lead by Hiccups father Chief Stoick the Vast's has been out looking for. while Hiccup splits his time between playing with Toothless and learning to be a dragon fighter along other recruits. while spending time with toothless hiccup also learns how and what works with different dragons and during training he use his new found knowledge to impress the village and the teacher.
at the graduation rite (the trainees need to kill a dragon)Hiccup decides to lay his weapons down to show that dragons aren't as bad as thought except when Stoick sees this he yells and upsets the dragon that then attacks Hiccup. when toothless hears hiccup scream he comes to his rescue and gets caught by the village warriors and forced to lead them to the dragons nest.
once there the warriors discover a giant dragon that attacks the ships and vikings. Back at the island hiccup has gather his class and taught them how to befriend the dragons that have been capture and are used for training purposes together they fly to the nest to help free Toothless and discovers a battle raging together they fight the giant dragon and by the death of the giant the dragons and vikings learn to work together.
